NEW on market - 2025 Spectrum Bikes MULLET EX1. Medium 17" - Matte Black.- Hey Folks - Greg here with Spectrum Bikes. I'm a lifelong bicyclist that decided to develop Ebikes after building some analog to Ebike conversions. Our first bike is fundamentally the bike that I desired, a mountain trekking bike. I can honestly say I am pleased. Maybe it will resonate with others as well. Things I wanted: a quality powerful motor for climbing, a slack front end for stability on descents, comfortable seating angle (I find I sit more on an Ebike), a BMX minimalist inspired burly aluminum full suspension frame with competent geometry, durability, serviceability, a solid reliable brake system, a robust drive train, wheel sets with integrity, awesome tires, the ability to get the backpack and water off my back, a remote dropper, wide bars, quality shocks, large capacity battery for significant range, and a bike that does not weigh 80-100 Lbs. All this for considerably less than $6-15K. I could certainly discuss the development in detail: suffice to say -- this bike is not something I picked out of a catalog, it was a collaborative effort and there were prototypes and alterations before the finale. Here are some of the specs and things to consider.
- Bafang M560 UL2849 from the worlds largest ebike motor manufacture. They have been in the industry upwards of 10-12 years ahead of many of the "main stream" players. They develop and build quality products. For a more in depth look at their operation, as well as some info on the M560 scope out this vid -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SqDrwiytzQ&t=18s
- Reention Dorado Battery System -- I needed a battery system which provided significant capacity, but did not take up as much real estate, all in an effort to: 1 - maintain a good reach and stack while providing a bit more slack seating position 2 - to get the motor articulated up and 3 - have enough energy in the tank for significant range and longevity (one of the biggest battery killers is to repetitively deplete the battery). Things I personally like about this system: Easy to remove (theft deterrent / keeping out of sun / storage + I find easier to charge on workbench vs getting bike to outlet) -- it is carried on the frame rather than suspended (lot of bikes have issues falling out of frame) -- USB Port (great for heated gloves in the winter) -- capacity (there are even larger capacity sizes available - that fit this bike). The last thing I would say about the battery - the bike is an investment - I personally have gotten about a decade out of my mountain bikes - and battery tech is advancing. I can not elaborate - but it is my inkling that in the years to come this battery system may be an excellent candidate for solid state/or? implementation because it has a distinct advantage: wiggle room.
